Malala Yousafzai
On 9 October 2012, Malala Yousafzai, aged 17, was shot by the Pakistani Taliban for her views that girls should be given the chance to receive education. Malala attended a school that her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, had founded. Ziauddin is an anti-Taliban activist. After the Taliban began attacking girls' schools in Swat, she gave a speech, titled ""How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?" When she reached the age of 14, the Taliban issued death threats to her.
The video shows how Malala was shot by the Taliban in the head for standing up for women's rights to go to school. "I have the right of education, I have the right to play, I have the right to sing, I have the right to talk, I have the right to speak up." says Malala.
