Lesser Chances of Getting Education for Girls
- Due to the lack of implementation of educational policies and the poor condition of schools, the enrollment rates in schools in rural areas are low. Hence, majority of the population is made up of illiterates. Since most families’ source of income comes from agriculture, parents would prefer for their children to provide labour in the fields instead of attending school. Besides, even if there may be a chance of enrollment into a school, doing so would be highly dangerous as the Taliban restricts girls from receiving an education based on the strict interpretation of Sharia.
- According to UNESCO (2012), the poorest girls in Pakistan are twice as likely to be out of school as the poorest girls in India, almost three times as likely as the poorest girls in Nepal and around six times as likely as the poorest girls in Bangladesh. Also, less than 2.3% of the Gross Domestic Product is allocated the welfare of education, which is hardly enough to meet the demands of education.
- Moreover, there's not enough female teachers in the teaching sector. Often, girls are not allowed to attend school if there's no female teachers. And yet, the majorities of the teachers in primary education are males, only 47% are females.
- Females only get to receive education in urban areas if they are able to afford it.
